Ministry of Foreign Affairs,
Nairobi) Kenya Date: 6 August 2012
Your, Excellencies,
Subject: Waamo Indigenous People of Jubaland( WIP -Jubaland
The Waamo Indigenous People of Jubaland (WIP -Jubaland) take this opportunity to introduce itself to your Excellencies and at same time congratulate you as individuals and your respective countries for organizing/facilitating the on-going consultative meeting on the future of Jubaland State of Somalia under auspices of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD). We sincerely thank you for this noble initiative.
Furthermore,WIP supports on-going efforts by the Kenyan Army Forces and AMISOM to rid Jubaland from AI Shabab menace and reinstate the integrity of Jubaland as vibrant democracy, prosperous and peaceful entity within the Federal governance system of Somalia.
Notwithstanding, the already started consultative meetings on the future of Jubaland and work in progress, WIP Jubaland wants to use this opportunity to register its displeasure with the on-going process at KCB Centre in Nairobi. The process lacks inclusivity. This is coupled with lack of meaningful and adequate representation of the people of WAAMO. Including the selection of signatories and their respective technical
teams.Clearly, there is a disparity in representation of indigenous people and as a result we are, therefore, deeply worried and concerned with the manner in which Jubaland political dispensation and future configuration is being dictated and consulted with persons who have caused grievances, atrocities and bear absolute no historical and clan ties with Jubaland.
Your, Excellencies, this is unfair and would seem to damage the integrity of the indigenous people of Waamo and Jubaland at large.
Your, Excellencies, WIP would, therefore as a matter of urgency, request for a meeting for purpose of highlighting some of the conceptual differences, clarification WIP position on consultative processes including agreeing a common understanding on the way forward for establishing the building blocks for peaceful and prosperous Jubaland.
We, the undersigned WIP clan Elders assure the highest respect and gratitude to IGAD member states and leadership on your efforts to stabilize Jubaland
\
Sincerely,
Aden Hussein
