 Re: Waamo Indigenous people
Dear Specila Representative of the UN Secretary of the United Nations:
We are writing to request the recognition of the indigenous people of the Waamo region of Somalia, commonly known as Jubba Land, and their sovereign rights to govern this region of Somalia.
As you are aware, the three days consultative meeting organized by Ethiopia, Kenya, and the TFG under the auspices of IGAD at the KCB leadership Centre in Nairobi. Currently, there is a disparity in representation because we are not part of process. This injustice is a result of violent members of other regions that have invaded and dominated the region dispossessing the original inhabitants of their land. In Kenya alone, there are over 700,000 people in refugee camps from this region wishing to return to their homeland.
Our organization supports the existing efforts of the transitional government to create stability in Somalia. We also support the Kenyan troops in their peacekeeping efforts to free the area of Al Shabab. And we want to bring back the refugees and elect representatives of indigenous people to form a peaceful democratic society with a proportional number of indigenous parliamentary members.
In addition, the Waamo Indigenous people supports the purposes and principles of the UN, namely, to reaffirm faith in fundamental human rights, in the dignity and worth of the human person, in the equal rights of men and women and of nations large and small. As such, the Waamo Indigenous People supports the United Nations efforts on a wide range of security, human rights, humanitarian, social and economic development, and environment related issues.
We would like to request your leadership and assistance in assuring that our goal to re establish a stable, peaceful and representative government in this area is accomplished. With your leadership, we can reverse the damaging social and economic conditions that exist in this area of Somalia, and establish a representative Democratic government.
We would be pleased to brief your office further regarding the historical occupation of this region by its original indigenous inhabitants should you require additional information. (See; e.g. footnotes)
 Sincerely,
 Aden Hussein
Chairman of Waamo Indigenous People
